The Process

How Does Custom Engagement Ring Design Work?

Creating your custom engagement ring is a collaborative journey. Start by filling out our request form or texting Alexis directly at (530) 555-5555. We’ll discuss your vision, look at inspiration photos together, and explore options for metals, stones, and shapes. Once we’ve captured your dream design, we create a detailed CAD (Computer-Aided Design) rendering so you can see exactly how your ring will look before we craft it. From there, we refine every detail until it’s perfect.

How Long Does It Take to Make a Custom Engagement Ring?

Once your design is finalized and your deposit is placed, the creation process typically takes 10-20 days depending on the complexity of your ring. Throughout this time, Alexis stays in close contact with the jeweler and manufacturer, receiving photos and videos to ensure everything meets our standards before your ring is picked up. We recommend starting the process at least 4-6 weeks before you need your ring to allow time for design revisions and creation.

Can I Make Changes to My Ring Design?

Absolutely! Revisions are a natural part of the custom design process. After you receive your initial CAD rendering, you can request changes to the carat size, band width, setting style, or any other details. We want your ring to be exactly what you envisioned, so we’ll work through as many adjustments as needed before moving to production.

Do You Ship Engagement Rings?

Yes! We serve customers throughout the United States. Depending on your location, your finished ring can be picked up in person, hand-delivered, or shipped directly to you, all free of charge. Every shipment is fully insured and carefully packaged to ensure your ring arrives safely.

Diamonds & Materials

What Are Lab-Grown Diamonds?

Lab-grown diamonds are real diamonds created in controlled laboratory environments using advanced technology that replicates the natural diamond formation process. They have the identical chemical composition, crystal structure, and optical properties as mined diamonds. The only difference is their origin. Lab-grown diamonds offer exceptional brilliance and durability while being a more sustainable and ethical choice.

Are Lab-Grown Diamonds Real Diamonds?

Yes, 100%. Lab-grown diamonds are chemically, physically, and optically identical to mined diamonds. They’re made of pure carbon arranged in the characteristic diamond crystal structure. Professional gemologists cannot distinguish between lab-grown and mined diamonds without specialized equipment. Lab-grown diamonds are graded using the same standards (cut, color, clarity, and carat) as mined diamonds.

What's the Difference Between Lab-Grown Diamonds and Moissanite?

Lab-grown diamonds and moissanite are both beautiful, ethical alternatives to mined diamonds, but they’re different gemstones. Lab-grown diamonds are pure carbon with the same properties as natural diamonds. Moissanite is silicon carbide, a distinct mineral with its own unique characteristics. Moissanite typically displays more colorful light dispersion (“fire”) and costs less than diamonds of comparable size. Both are extremely durable and make excellent choices for engagement rings. We offer both options and can help you decide which is right for you.

Why Choose Ethically Sourced Jewelry?

Traditional diamond mining can have significant environmental and humanitarian impacts. By choosing lab-grown diamonds and ethically sourced materials, you’re getting a stunning piece of jewelry without those concerns. Our sustainable practices mean your engagement ring or wedding band represents not just your love story, but also your values. Every piece from Vow of Hope Fine Jewelry is created with intention and care for both you and the world around us.

What Does GIA-Trained Mean?

GIA stands for the Gemological Institute of America, the world’s most respected authority on diamonds and gemstones. GIA-trained means Alexis has been educated in GIA’s rigorous standards for evaluating diamond quality, including the 4Cs: cut, color, clarity, and carat weight. Every diamond selected for your custom piece is carefully vetted using these professional grading standards, ensuring you receive a stone that meets the highest quality benchmarks in the industry.
